Roger Fans! Interview with Richard Rankin
Oct. 6th, 2017 12:00 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
When Claire tells her story about time travel, Roger believes it before Brianna. Why do you think Roger believes it?
No, he doesn’t. No he doesn’t, he doesn’t believe it. I think Roger is the kind of guy that keeps an open mind even in the face of impossibility. I think he’s the kind of guy that really gives people a lot of time and the benefit of the doubt. I don’t think he believed Claire at first. Roger’s an academic, he’s an historian, at that point in time I don’t think he believed that it was technically possible.

Balfe added that it was important to the writers and actors to convey that Frank and Claire’s relationship wasn’t doomed from the start.

Great interview with Cait, Sam and Tobias

Variety has a really lovely interview with Caitriona, Sam and Tobias about their characters' journeys in season 3:
But all three grow contemplative and thoughtful when asked about the complicated lives of the people they play. Over the past two seasons of the show, it’s become obvious that they’ve all worked hard to make the emotional bonds among their characters meaningful and even a little unpredictable.
A very different interview
Sep. 6th, 2017 09:36 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Sam, Cait and Matthew B. Roberts are interviewed by British Heritage Travel -- and it's a nice change from the usual Outlander interview.
BHT: When BHT spoke to Diana Gabaldon, author of the novels, she said that it was a credit to the Scottish spirit that they didn’t actually succeed in erasing the Highland culture.
Heughan: Yeah, absolutely. It’s a very vibrant culture and I think it still feels close to the Scottish people, even now. There’s still talk of independence and there’s a constant state of, not unrest, but of the chance that there could be something better. I guess Scotland has always been the underdog, and we’re quite good at doing that.
Lovely interview with Richard Rankin

This is a lovely, long interview with Richard Rankin from the Herald Scotland.
While Rankin wouldn't begin acting until his twenties, there were signs of a budding performer long before that. "I went through many a creative outlet," he says. "My dad was a drummer and into his music. That was something he had pursued early on before he joined the police.
"My earliest memory of music was listening to Billy Joel. I have many vivid memories of me dancing around in a nappy singing Uptown Girl."
