There are a couple of bloggers I highly recommend to fans of the books/shows. Their episodes analyses are lyrical -- they are so much better at that sort of thing than I will ever be. Even if you're not current with the show, they've written about the previous seasons as well, so you can go back and check out their archives. They are both long-time fans of the books, so there are potential spoilers for the books if you've not read them, but they do manage to focus mostly on the episode being discussed.

These are just what I've been looking for! I'd actually been to the TV Kills Time blog before but thought it only covered season 4. Glad to find out I was wrong – her recaps are a lot of fun.

I just wish her blog was more searchable. It's rather difficult to find the older stuff. Not sure if she has much season 1 stuff on there as she was doing recaps for one of the Scottish media sites at the time. She's also moved away from the funny screen-caps approach and more towards introspective analysis.

I've found that it works quite well just to load the older posts and then search for the episodes I want by their numbering. It's a shame the analysis is often quite short for later season 3 episodes, though, i.e. just the main takeaways.

I may be mistaken, but I think she had some sort of family or health issue that came up that prevented her from doing her usual blog analysis after each episode, and then did quick recaps some time after the season finished airing.

Oh no, that's even worse than just her potentially losing interest or being pressed for time and keeping the analysis short for that reason. Skipping around on the blog the way I was – with one eye half closed to avoid spoilers – means I miss these sorts of things. Thanks for clarifying!
