Claire manages to survive quite well in the past because of her knowledge about the past, and because her skills as a healer are in demand pretty much at any time in history.

If Jamie could also go through the stones, and if he had decided after surviving Culloden to go to the future to try to find Claire, do you think he would have managed as well? What sort of work could Jamie have found in the late 1940s? I really can't see him in any sort of office job.

Mmm. I don't think he would manage as well as Claire. Mainly because I think he'd not feel... as free to do whatever he wanted. He'd be pretty restricted with rules and what not. But I think Jamie would manage it. He has an open mind and once he gets over the initial shock of seeing all the technical advancements he will manage ok.

He worked that print press really well. I think he could probably do anything that means physical labour. Like working a machine or other tools. But then he's really good at numbers too and he's got experience as a wine merchant. He could probably work in an office but I think he would hate it. Being outdoors would probably be best for him. I see him as an outdoorsy type. Horses would most likely work. Are there any jobs with that though? Horse ranch?
